Cavity Detection

Thanks to new technologies we have more tools then ever to help us diagnose cavities. This allows us to treat them before they lead to pain and bigger problems. We use a Laser called Diagnodent to help diagnose cavities on the surface of teeth. It gives us a numeric reading indicating the depth of lesions. We also use a software program call Logicon Caries Detector. This Program works with Kodak's top rated digital xray sensors to evaluate the depth of cavities between the teeth. It can read many thousands more shades of gray than the human eye.

Our latest addition is an intraoral camera called Soprolife. This camera uses a new imaging fluorescence device aiding in the diagnosis and treatment of caries.

Many times we can find small cavities starting in the enamel that only need a flouride treatment and good flossing! We show you on the monitors all of the images we see so there is no mystery. Someday we will "cure" cavities, until then we have to use all the best tools available to find and treat them early.
