Non-Metal Fillings

Why opt to remove a cavity, only to replace it with an even darker metallic substance known to cause major future cracking issues inside your repaired teeth? Metal-free fillings are rapidly becoming the preferred option for patients who require the removal of minor to moderate cavities.
Our composite material allows for a very conservative procedure, bonding to your teeth without any concern for future temperature change that has caused many amalgam fillings to expand and create significant cracks in your teeth. Our metal-free fillings also protect your teeth from future bacteria by completely sealing them away.
If we detect any gum or tooth issues at an early stage, we can also use a special in-office fluoride treatment (combined with a high-fluoride toothpaste and a prescription take-home fluoride rinse, if necessary) to re-mineralize the area and avoid drilling altogether.
Do you need to replace a few old metal fillings? Once you see and feel the difference of non-metals, you’ll never go back. Call Dr. Brian Williams for a complimentary initial exam.

Technology has advanced to the point where amalgam offers no real advantages over non-metal acrylics like ceramic and porcelain. Since the modern materials used by our Federal Way dental practice today are so much more advanced, there’s simply no good reason to use amalgam anymore. It is effectively obsolete.
Non-metals like acrylic, ceramic and porcelain are superior to amalgams in several important ways:
